What is fingerstyle guitar?
Fingerstyle guitar is the technique of playing the guitar by plucking the strings directly with the fingertips, fingernails, or picks attached to fingers. That's different from flatpicking in which individual notes are plucked with a single plectrum called a flatpick.

The term is often used synonymously with fingerpicking, although fingerpicking can also refer to a specific tradition of folk, blues, and country guitar playing in the US.

Music arranged for fingerstyle playing can include chords, arpeggios and other elements such as hammering on, pulling off, and other techniques. Fingerpicking is the standard technique on the classical or nylon string guitar. It has also become a popular style of playing rock, jazz and pop on electric guitars.

Some well-known artist who utilize fingerstyle in their playing are James Taylor, Joe Pass, Chet Atkins, Earl Klugh, Ry Cooder, Steve Howe, Jeff Beck, Paul Simon, John Knowles, and Jimmy Page to name a few.
