This Chord Progression Map guides you through scores of possible chord progressions that can occur in minor keys.

This diagram shows you chords grouped loosely according to their harmonic function.

Instructions

Use the "key pad" at the top of the diagram to select the key in which you want to write your song. Beginning on the block in the upper left (I), chose a chord within that block.

Next move to any other block to begin your progression. Use the arrows to guide you to your next "harmonically friendly" chord. When you end up on the block on the far right (I), you have completed your progression.

Different chord functions are indicated by the Roman numerals of each block.
